I am excited to say, that the clinic has decided to allow me to proceed with IVF. To make sure my retrieval occurs while the embryologist lab is available, they are cutting out the birth control portion of the protocol.
At first, I was concerned that this would affect my chances of a successful round of IVF and was hesitant to accept this treatment. No matter how impatient I may be, it's more important that it works. After some talk with the nurse though, I was assured my chances at success would not be changed by the altered protocol. The purpose of the birth control was just to allow for some additional control of my cycle and should have no bearing on my results. The only other issue would be getting the IVF medications in time as generally the approval process through insurance and receiving the prescriptions from a specialty pharmacy is timely. The nurse has offered to do her best to expedite any paperwork needed to get my prescriptions approved and given me some advice on how to ensure they arrive on time. Basically, bug the heck out of the insurance company and CVS pharmacy. Unnecessary advise as that was my plan as soon as I heard it might be a delay! I'm scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday to make sure everything looks good to proceed with IVF and a little education session on administering the medications. Can't wait!!!
